About Me

Hello!! Welcome to Sweet, Spicy, and Sassy!  My name is Liz and I absolutely love to cook! I am originally from Chicago, and currently live in Georgia with my little family. My husband, who I like to call the finance department, assistant in the test kitchen, best friend, and biggest supporter, enjoys being in the kitchen with me…..as well as sampling all my recipes! Our dog, Rambo, a Miniature Schnauzer with a very big personality, is often in the kitchen hoping to snag a taste of whatever is cooking. Although I would love to say that I am a chef that went to some fancy shmancy school, I am really just a home cook. An addition to teaching myself how to cook through trial and error, I have been really lucky to have my mother, sisters, and mother in law as teachers who have passed down family recipes. I am Mexican and love adding my own modern touch to traditional Mexican dishes. While a lot of my recipes are Mexican, I love cooking other recipes too! So don’t be surprised if one day I cover my version of a guacamole, and the next day I whip up something Italian!

Why blog?!

I started this blog for a couple of reasons. For one, I am a military wife that is settling into a new location and in need of an additional hobby. This blog allows me to share one of the things I am really passionate about….FOOD! Also, my girlfriends were great inspiration to starting this blog. I recall many times being on the phone with them while I cooked dinner and having them tell me “ I don’t know how to cook that” or “ I wish I could cook that.” My reaction was “Girl,if I can do it, you can too!” I truly hope you enjoy the recipes I share with you throughout my edible adventures. As well as inspire you to get creative in your own kitchen!
